WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has warned U.S. firms of the risks to company data from Chinese-made drones, according to a notice reviewed by Reuters on Monday.

The notice, titled “Chinese Manufactured Unmanned Aircraft Systems,” warned that U.S. officials have “strong concerns about any technology product that takes American data into the territory of an authoritarian state that permits its intelligence services to have unfettered access to that data or otherwise abuses that access.”

This is the latest concern raised by the U.S. government about the threats of Chinese-made devices. On Wednesday, the U.S. Commerce Department added Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and 68 affiliates to an export blacklist, citing the risk of to U.S. national security from the telecommunications network equipment maker.

DOJ To Nadler: ‘Congress may not constitutionally compel the President’s senior advisors to testify’

The Department of Justice issued a memorandum to President Donald Trump’s legal counsel Monday stating that “Congress may not constitutionally compel the President’s senior advisors to testify about their official duties.”

The memorandum was in direct response to current Trump counsel Pat Cipollone’s question as to whether Trump’s former White House Counsel Don McGahn is legally required to appear before the committee to testify. The House Judiciary Committee subpoenas McGahn to testify specifically about matters regarding Special Counsel Robert Muller’s report.

Bottom Line: The President’s immediate advisers are an extension of the President. Congress may no more summon the President to a congressional committee room than the President may command Members of Congress to appear at the White House.

>Nunes said notes from State Department official Kathleen Kavalec about her October 2016 meeting with Steele were withheld from the House Intelligence Committee during its investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential election.

>“It’s likely now, as we do our investigation as to why we didn’t get this information that we’ve just been discussing from the State Department two years ago when we should have received it, there could be another referral coming on obstruction a congressional investigation,” he said.
