The Texas truck driver charged in connection with a deadly wreck on Interstate 70 last month attempted to flee the scene after the collision and prosecutors said they learned about his actions after the 23-year-old was released on bail Saturday night without a GPS tracking bracelet.

In a motion filed Monday afternoon in Jefferson County Court, First Judicial Deputy District Attorney Jed Greenblatt asked the court to modify Rogel Aguilera-Mederos’s bail terms in light of the new information, plus the fact that Aguilera-Mederos lives out of state and is a Cuban national. The DA’s motion was first reported by Fox 31.

Aguilera-Mederos has been charged with 36 felonies for his role in the April 25 high-speed collision which left four people dead and another six injured. Police say he was driving 85 miles per hour when he slammed into stopped vehicles near Colorado Mills Parkway, passing multiple emergency runaway ramps along the way.

Aguilera-Mederos’ attorney, Rob Corry, has said the truck had a mechanical malfunction.

The truck driver is facing decades in prison if convicted of all charges.
