Report: DOJ Told FBI To Ignore ‘Gross Negligence’ As Reason To Charge Clinton Over Emails

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) reportedly instructed the FBI to ignore “gross negligence” as a reason for charging former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server to conduct classified government business.

The direction might have enabled the DOJ to ensure a favorable outcome for the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s email, the Epoch Times reported Monday regarding private testimony it says it has obtained.

Private congressional testimony discussed an email reportedly sent from a nameless individual in the FBI general counsel’s office to Bill Priestap, the bureau’s assistant director of counterintelligence. The correspondence dictated the “available statutes for prosecuting the former Secretary of State,” and these did not include “gross negligence,” according to the Epoch Times.

Ryan Breitenbach, who was then the House majority counsel, expressed bewilderment that gross negligence was not included in the reasons for charging Clinton while the same criterion was utilized to issue a search warrant to gather information in the Clinton investigation.

Priestap replied that he could not say who sent the email or why the phrase “DOJ not willing to charge this” was inserted in the instructions.

Former FBI Director James Comey, who testified before Congress that he did not believe there was sufficient reason to charge Clinton, later admitted at a July 2016 news conference that someone of less political stature than the former first lady might be charged.

Most recently, scientists at Carnegie Mellon University have figured out how to connect two brains, using a machine to transfer information wirelessly.

Now Darpa wants to take this nascent technology to its inevitable conclusion. According to the agency, the N3 project — Next-Generation Non-Surgical Neurotechnology — aims to “create reliable neural interfaces without the need for surgery or implanted electrodes.”

U.S. Adopts Al-Qaeda Claims On Chemical Attack, Promises “Quick And Appropriate” Response

The U.S. has adopted claims of the former branch of al-Qaeda in Syria, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), accusing the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) of carrying out a “chemical attack” on the town of Kabani in northern Lattakia on May 19.

In an official statement by the Department of State, Washington said that it is monitoring “signs” that the SAA may be “renewing its use of chemical weapons.”

Washington based its accusations on the claims of HTS, which said that SAA targeted positions of its “Mujahedeen” near Kabani with three munitions loaded with “chlorine gas.” The terrorist group itself acknowledged that nobody was killed or even injured in the supposed attack.

“We are still gathering information on this incident, but we repeat our warning that if the Assad regime uses chemical weapons, the United States and our allies will respond quickly and appropriately,” the Department of State said in its statement that was released on May 21.

The Department of State didn’t only adopt al-Qaeda narrative, but went on to claim the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) had proved that chemical weapons were used by the SAA in previous cases. This is false. The state department even accused the SAA and Russian forces of “fabricating” the November 24 chemical attack on the government-controlled city of Aleppo.

These accusations provoked response from both pro-government and pro-opposition sources. Even the widely known pro-opposition outlet, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) deounced the US claims.

In a press release posted on its official Facebook page, the UK-based monitoring group slammed the U.S. accusations, saying that no “chemical attack was documented in northern Lattakia”. The group also confirmed that there are no civilians in the region, which is occupied by HTS and other “Jihadi” groups.

“I don’t know how the U.S. is adopting the information of the al-Nusra Front [HTS’ original name] in a region, where only al-Nusra’s members are present … I don’t know why the U.S. is adopting something that we found no evidence for on the ground,” director of the SOHR, Rami Abd al-Rahman, said in a phone call with the BBC on May 21.

The Department of State’s statement is the clearest evidence of how the U.S. uses the “chemical weapons” pretext to pressure Damascus, even if this means empowering terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda.

Barr and Durham are working closely with CIA Director Gina Haspel, Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats and FBI Director Christopher Wray on surveillance issues related to Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Bayer, Dow, L’Oreal using potentially harmful chemicals illegally – investigation

More than 650 companies are breaking European chemical safety laws, according to an investigation from German environmental group BUND. As a result, potentially harmful chemicals can be found in food, cosmetics, and toys.

“Chemical companies have been disregarding the law for years and getting away with it, selling substances that might cause hormonal cancers, brain disorders and other severe health problems,” said BUND’s chemical policy officer Manuel Fernandez. “EU and national authorities need to raise their game in a big way.”

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) acknowledged that companies have been known to flout chemical safety laws last November, investigating 700 widely used chemicals and finding that two thirds of them broke REACH, the agency’s key safety regulation.

The BUND report, published Tuesday, names some of the companies responsible, and identifies some of the potentially deadly substances.

A total of 654 companies are failing to perform the required safety checks mandated by REACH, according to the report. Some of the companies named therein are already bywords for safety scandals – such as Bayer, currently facing more than 11,000 lawsuits after US and European courts found that an ingredient in subsidiary Monsanto’s ‘Roundup’ weedkiller caused multiple cases of cancer.

Others – like L’Oreal, Michelin, food giant DSM and medicine maker Merck – manufacture products that people have come into contact with on a daily basis.

Some of the chemicals that make their way into everyday goods include dibutyl phthalate, a plasticizer used in flooring, toys, leather, paper and cardboard that is highly toxic to aquatic life and can harm unborn children and decrease fertility. Companies using dibutyl phthalate have not completed the hazard identification required by REACH.

Nor have they completed safety checks on methyl acetate, a chemical that can cause drowsiness, dizziness and serious eye irritation. Methyl acetate is commonly found in adhesives, cleaning products, and cosmetics.

Trichlorethylene, an industrial chemical, can expose workers to serious irritation, and may cause cancer and genetic defects. Safety analysis for this substance is also missing or incomplete. BUND identified 940 suspect chemicals, but could not verify the compliance status of around 700.

BUND managed to get a hold of the companies’ names through freedom of information requests from the German government, which conducted its own analysis in 2014. However, the organization believes that its findings may only be the “tip of the iceberg,” as many files returned were incomplete, and had company names redacted.

“The very foundation of EU chemical safety rules are being ignored,” said BUND’s Tatiana Santos. “BUND revealed the tip of the iceberg; now it is on ECHA to tell us the rest.”

Inqtel’s board of trustees is an all-star team of Silicon Valley bankers and intelligence agency operatives, including former CIA director George Tenet. Its alumni includes dozens of high tech firms. Libertad, by contrast, says it will not disclose the name of companies it funds.

The alliance of venture capital and secret intelligence professionals serves the needs of both. The technologists gets funding. The spies get cutting edge tools to surveill enemies, control dissidents, and wage war: spyware, facial recognition technology, and autonomous weapons to name a few.

Some of these technologies may make the public safer–detection of chemical and nuclear weapons–but all of them make secret intelligence agencies stronger.

FAA to Share Data With Foreign Govts Prior to 737 Max Return to Service - Report

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will share a safety analysis, that will infrom decision making on return to service of 737 Max jets, with foreign governments, Reuters reported citing the Acting Administrator.

The acting head of the Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday, cited by Reuters, he does not have a specific timetable for when the agency may unground the Boeing 737 MAX.

"I'm not tied to a timetable", Dan Elwell told reporters ahead of a meeting planned for Thursday with more than 30 international air regulators, according to Reuters.

Elwell said he plans to share the FAA's safety analysis to date on Thursday, but said the agency is still waiting Boeing's formal software upgrade and emphasized the FAA has not decided on the revised training requirements, Reuters reported.

Last week, Boeing said in a press release that it has completed the updated Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) software updates for its 737 MAX aircraft following the crashes of two of them killing 346 people.

Boeing said it is now providing additional information to address Federal Aviation Administration requests that include details on how pilots interact with the aircraft’s controls and displays in different flight scenarios.

The Federal Aviation Administration reportedly failed to recognize the critical safety risks of Boeing’s 737 MAX flight-control system implicated as the culprit in the two deadly crashes in Indonesia last October and in Ethiopia in March.

The second tragedy led to world aviation authorities and carriers either grounding all 737 MAX series aircraft or closing their airspace to them.

Pilots from American Airlines have reportedly called on Boeing to fix the problems with the 737 MAX jets weeks after the crash in Indonesia. During a closed-door meeting, the pilots even asked Boeing to push the authorities to ground all 737 MAX aircraft.

Republican Wins House Seat in Pennsylvania Special Election

Republican Fred Keller won the special election in Pennsylvania to fill a House of Representatives seat that has been vacant for four months.

Keller secured 68 percent of the vote to defeat Democrat Marc Friedenberg. Republican Tom Marino vacated the seat in January. Keller will serve the rest of Marino’s term, which ends in 2021.

“I’m honored to have the support of the hardworking people of the 12th Congressional District and for their trust in electing me to represent them in Congress,” Keller said in a statement. “Tonight is the beginning of us working together to address the issues that the people have told us will positively impact every family across central and northeast Pennsylvania.”

President Donald Trump held a rally in Pennsylvania ahead of the election to support Keller. Trump received 66 percent of the vote in the state in 2016.

“Great news for Republicans: Fred Keller has just won the hard fought for Pennsylvania Congressional contest in a LANDSLIDE, over 70% of the vote,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Thanks to the thousands who showed up for the Rally last night. Congratulations to Fred and his wonderful family!”
