That's been their goal. Hillary was supposed to do it but she lost. They need to destroy both the U.S. and Russia to achieve their goal. So they have to fall back to using Plan B.
Unfortunately for them neither Trump not Putin are playing their game. The UK can try sucking us into it with NATO but Trump won't go for it.
