I blame realtors for the housing crash not the banks.
Realtors try to sell people more house that they can afford or need.
If a young couple with no children wants to buy a smaller, cheaper house with intentions of eventually having children and living off of one income, the realtor disregards this.
My brother got really mad at a realtor about 20 years ago who kept showing them really expensive houses and saying, "but you can afford it"
All they care about is their commission.
