My biological father signed away his rights to me and my mom r married and my step dad adopted me. Had a wonderful childhood. Probably best thing that could have happened with me. But even in conservative NC I cannot get a copy of my original birth certificate and it’s WRONG. People have a right to know where they come from (and I do) but I always advocate for those who can’t find out any other way except through a birth certificate.
