Not so sure about this, seems to be an outgrowth of Jewish obsession of killing animals to take away the sins for the sinner's sake. Inherently flawed thinking of man.

I agree with the rest of what you said, especially 'Jesus died once, and for all,' as He put an end to mistaken idea I clipped. But Moses was instructed on the First Passover, so there was a plan in place for man's redemption at the appropriate time.

 

Contemplating His Passion we realize how truly much pain He endured for our sake, Anon.
