62,000 pounds of raw meat are being recalled, just days before Memorial Day
(CNN)If you're planning on firing up the grill this Memorial Day weekend, you may want to double check your meat products before you get a very un-festive surprise.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a recall for more than 62,000 pounds of raw beef due to E. coli concerns.
Here are some things to keep in mind when checking your labels:
The meat was packaged at the Aurora Packing Company, Inc in North Aurora, Illinois on April 19, but was shipped nationwide for distribution.
According to the USDA's announcement, the products being recalled have the establishment number "EST. 788" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recall includes more than 40 products, most of which are cuts of steak, like ribeyes, as well as ribs and brisket cuts.

The USDA also points out that people sometimes like to freeze cuts of meat for future use, so if you've socked away some beef in your backup freezer recently, you may want to check that as well.
The possible E. coli contamination was discovered after a random sampling, and the USDA says there have been no reported cases of illness related to this recall.

Judge halts Mississippi abortion law
A federal judge on Friday blocked a Mississippi law that banned abortions once a fetus's heartbeat is detected, as early as six weeks into pregnancy.
Judge Carlton Reeves, an Obama appointee, wrote that the law "threatens immediate harm to women’s rights, especially considering most women do not seek abortion services until after 6 weeks."
"This injury outweighs any interest the state might have in banning abortions after the detection of a fetal heartbeat," he wrote.
The law was set to go into effect on July 1.

DHS: ‘100 %’ Border Crossers with Children Being Released into U.S., Given Work Permits
Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kevin McAleenan confirmed to Congress this week that his agency is merely acting as a checkpoint for adults crossing the United States-Mexico border with children, as “100 percent” are being released into the interior of the country.
During a hearing before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, McAleenan said DHS is releasing “100 percent” of adult border crossers into the interior of the country who arrive with children at the southern border, including those who are not even asking for asylum.
Then, within four to six weeks, McAleenan said the adult border crossers who have been released into the U.S. are given work permits allowing them to take American jobs while they await their court hearings, oftentimes two years down the road.

India stops purchases of Iranian oil as US waivers expire
One of Iran’s key energy partners, India, has stopped importing oil from the Islamic Republic after the US waivers allowing the country to bypass sanctions expired earlier this month.
That’s according to India’s Ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who said the country will comply with the US sanctions on Tehran.
"We do understand that this has been a priority for the US administration, although it comes at a cost to us because we really need to find alternative sources of energy," Shringla said at a news conference in Washington on Thursday.
He added that India has stopped importing oil from both Iran and Venezuela.
The world's third-biggest oil consumer, India, was among the four major Asian buyers of Iranian oil. As of late April, it had dropped its dependency on Iranian oil from about 2.5 million tons a month to 1 million tons. Iran used to supply 10 percent of India's oil needs.
According to Shringla, India depends heavily on the Middle East for its energy needs and is against any further escalation of tensions in the region.

After the Banting7DayMealPlan Facebook group was banned without explanation, CrossFit announced its decision to end all use of both Facebook and Instagram in an apparent boycott.
According to CrossFit, the group was used by over 1.65 million users to share advice, testimonials, and provide encouragement to users pursuing the CrossFit health plan.

New Hampshire Health Official Determines Measles Case Was Caused by the Vaccine Itself
New Hampshire public health officials have determined that a case of measles found in the city of Keene was likely the result of an adverse reaction to the vaccine itself.
After conducting tests in a laboratory, state investigators have come to the conclusion that the infected child likely became ill from the live-attenuated measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine.
“Therefore, [the Department of Health and Human Services] is suspending additional public health interventions. There is no contagious measles known to be circulating in the community,” the DHHS said in a release.
It is possible the child never even contracted the disease. Health officials point to the fact that five percent of individuals who receive the MMR vaccine ultimately develop a fever and rash reaction as a result, a data point that Big Pharma would like to sweep under the rug.
