Not really an update … other than the CDC saying that the FAKE NEWS was not true that he had been passed up for promotion just before going missing.
This whole thing stinks and reminds of what happened to Kimberly Quinlan Lindsey back in 2011. Lindsey was the deputy director for the Laboratory Science Policy and Practice Program Office at the CDC and was the senior health scientist in the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response. That office oversaw the allocation process for $1.5 billion in terrorism preparedness (think bird flu, swine flu, H1N1, etc. etc.).
She was someone, who may have known too much about corruption at the CDC gets charged for child molestation and bestiality based on false allegations. After her life was ruined, she was finally acquitted of charges in 2016, 5 years later.
