Correct, most people engage in "sinful" behavior because it is convenient and expedient, and moral self-evaluation is a challenging task for an individual to take on, so it's much easier to just go along with what everyone in your family and social circle is doing.

Personally I realized the point you brought up, and use it as one of the reinforcing reasons why I have stopped eating and using animal products for almost 3 years now. I think it is the ultimately logical conclusion to adopt a plant-based lifestyle when confronted with the question of how do we serve the Light in this life, and not the darkness. How do we cause the least amount of unjust pain and suffering possible, and contribute to building a better more hopeful future?
