If the quote is real then there it serves an example of a statement not to believe. It serves as it's own example: and it's a false statement.
He must have meant 'just because' or it's a quote of a character because it's a nonsenseical statement.
and if we believe 'no statement' then we can't even believe his.
I used to think he was cool, but later I reassessed Science Fiction and determined that it seemed to be comms between various people to try and do 'soft reveals' and there seemed no other purpose for it except to normalize freak show behaviors or expose freak show people.
For exmaple an author named John Brunner, very little known, seems to have been doing reveals about MK Ultra etc back in the 70's and 80s.
his books are rather hard to get through but when you review them you say ' oh, my he's talking about all this stuff 40 years ago that is a big deal now on the chans.'
and some of his were 'first edition paperback' which means he had a guarnateed audience but he wsan't well funded.
like Kerouac.
who also did reveals like chapter 15 (or was it 16) in Dharma Bums that is about MK Ultra victim in San Francisco jumping to her death. And Kerouac then goes out drinking (that's his character).
Heinlein has been criticised as being 'homophobic'.
I think you need to apply Heinleins concpet about believeing 'authority' to him.
if you don't believe authority ever, as he suggests, you are basically considered to be a paranoid who can not be directed to be safe, and will beocme a bother if you are around. Such people are considered 'rathskallians'. It's a personality type that doesn't really survive into adulthood. Many people can do it as a larp, but when a real top dog comes in they bend and bow before him.
I was at a DMV and a biker jonsing (looked swetty) was arguing with the people and they pushed the panci button and a Trooper arrived.
Arguement biker with the bandanda guy noticed a shadow over him as the hulking trooper stood , arms crossed, facing him, close by him. The biker dude turned around, noticed the officer. Turned back, turned around again and said 'Officer.' as a solute.
and the biker was now cowed and exhibiting docileness.
the Trooper, not letting up said forcefully "Trooper!" and then the biker, docilley, but respectfully adressed the man correctly "Trooper.", bowing his head slightly as he said it.
So ya, trust and believe authority.
but not JUST because they are authority.
so either the quote is wrong or Heinlein was a dope or he knew that it was a broken statement and used it to troll people.
