Jesus had to take care of the sin barrier between Man and God, in order to allow mankind to once again be filled with the Holy Spirit of God.
Jesus did that on the cross.
His sacrifice was proven acceptable by the resurrection.
Now any who confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in their heart God raised Him from the dead, are saved, and the Holy Spirit can enter into that person, resurrecting them unto eternal life.
This is being born again, in the Spirit.
It is the only way to the Father.
