More on Elijah Cummings and Big Pharma phuckery.
A couple years ago, shortly after Brian Hooker re-analyzed the data William Thompson and others at the CDC discarded in order the skew the results of the 2004 Atlanta MMR study, Cummings had a meeting with Student Minister Tony Muhammad of the Nation of Islam.
Vaccine safety advocates approached several African American leaders with the knowledge from Thompson's whistleblowing that African American males had over a 300% increased chance of being diagnosed with autism if they got the MMR when the CDC recommends, as opposed to waiting until 36 months. None of the national African American leaders would listen, except for Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. Several joint protests at the CDC have been held, attended by the Nation of Islam and white antivax people. (Amazingly, many whites in the movement were invited on stage at the Fox Theater when Louis Farrakhan gave a talk in conjunction with one of the protests) Although I missed the Atlanta protest, I helped organize one held in Washington DC six months later, and spent time talking with Minister Muhammad.
Minister Muhammad shared the information about the risk to African American males with Cummings, who initially expressed outrage and that he was going to be "looking further into this." Approximately one week later, Cummings phoned Minister Muhammad and said, "There was nothing he could do about it."
