A meme is an entity that replicates itself as an idea in minds. If a meme is reused by someone, then it is a superior idea and is successfully self replicating. An owned idea is not a meme it is a property. Therefore there can be no such thing as a 'stolen meme'.

If you really want to protect your creator rights, add a copyright sign and your name at the bottom.

Paytriots are gonna whore their souls no matter what you do. I would just relax and be proud your idea is spreading.

I think you believe a meme is a picture with a message which is where this conversation is going off the path.

Check out The selfish gene by Richard Dawkins.

A meme is an idea - an idea that self replicates like a gene.

Current use comes from pop culture naming of artwork with a message that goes viral.

A meme isn't ownable. If a paytriot uses one it's like selling leaves. If a paytriot uses yours it's likely a good idea and you should accept that, or alternatively turn your soul in and trademark it for use on hats and t-shirts.
