It's the symbolic equivalent of "Reee!"
Keep in mind that these people have been borrowing symbols to tack onto themselves for thousands of years. They have basically been writing fan-fiction… And angsty highschool teenager tier smut-fiction, at that.
Now that people are getting tired of twilight and 50-shades tier plots out of these guys, they are just screaming for attention with every symbol they can think of crammed into place as if it's going to be some kind of magical ritual.
The thing about rituals, symbols, and magic is that it isn't enough to treat them as buttons. They are extensions of the soul and one's own will. It isn't just plastering that symbol on your face like some kind of genderfuck fool - it is about crafting a story, message, and impact using the symbols - then becoming the acting agent of that message.
Cosplay conventions are closer to having ninjas and saiyans than these guys are to being illuminati - no matter what they call themselves, how many meetings they hold, or how much money they have. All of it is powerless before those of us who really run the show around here - and it's time some quality content be published for a change.
Just because it is magic doesn't mean it flies in the face of reason. It just lets all the physics be an abstract mystery in the wake of a logical/justified consequence.
