A more fair title would be that APP MAKERS are harvesting and sending data… iOS itself and Apple aren’t the ones doing it, but their platforms appear to be explored at best or enabling the app makers at worst.

I expect Apple to do something about this now. They aren’t perfect, it they do have a long track record of actually trying to secure their platform/devices. It’s the whole basis of iOS’s containerized architecture, locked down App Store, iCloud platform and many other things. They famously stared down the FBI years back when investigators wanted to break into a terrorist’s phone.

So… your move, Apple. You gonna still be about security and do something, or you gonna fold? I’ll be watching.
