JUST IN: Chicago Police Release Hundreds Pages Of Jussie Smollett Documents
Americans were shocked when it was announced on March 26, that all charges had been dropped in the ‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett hate-crime hoax case. During their press conference to discuss the Smollett case, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Department Supt. Eddie Johnson openly admitted they were blind-sided by the announcement by the announcement that came from Chicago Prosecutor Kim Foxx’s office.
As is the case in many “blue” cities like Chicago, there was something about the dismissal of this case that didn’t pass the smell test. The suspicions many have about foul play in the Smollett case appear to be well-founded.
Text messages and emails reveal Prosecutor Kim Foxx and Michelle Obama’s former Chief of Staff, Tina Tchen communicating about the Smollett case, and reveal Tchen asking Foxx to intercede on Smollett’s behalf, confirming that the two were working behind the scenes to get Smollett out of the 16 charges. Chicago’s Fox 32 reports – Last week, an Illinois judge cleared the way for records sealed in the “hoax attack” criminal case of “Empire” cast member Jussie Smollett be made public, ruling that the actor has not displayed the “actions of a person seeking to maintain his privacy.”
In his order for the file to be unsealed, Judge Steven Watkins said Smollett’s actions before and after his case was dismissed did not appear to be those of someone seeking to maintain his privacy. Smollett’s lawyers had argued that since the charges were dropped, the actor had “the right to be left alone.”
