I was buying grass from a family sod farm… saw acres and acres of perfectly flat fields in various stages of grass growth. From bare soil to thick turf. I see about an inch of soil come off with each roll of grass.
I ask how many cuts per year? 3 or 4 the man says.
How long farming here? Over 50 years the man says.
Where do you bring the soil from I ask? Thinking over the years 10 to 20 FEET of soil has been removed.
We don’t, the grass creates its own soil, the man says.
