UNDERCUTTING TRUMP: Former Obama Administration Officials Speaking With Iran, Report Say

Former Obama administration officials, apparently eager to undercut President Trump’s efforts to isolate the terrorist-supporting theocratic regime in Iran, are speaking to Iranian officials behind the Trump administration’s back, according to The Daily Beast.

A Republican congressional aide told The Daily Beast, “It’s not just about what they were saying to the Iranians. It’s about what they were saying to their political allies back here in the U.S. Their strategy was to divide and isolate the Trump administration just as the Trump administration was trying to re-establish deterrence with Iran. In the current highly partisan political environment, the only safe course is to signal national unity—and they contributed to eroding that at home and abroad.”

Mark Dubowitz, the CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, added, “Former Obama administration officials gave wrong-headed advice to the regime in Iran that U.S. sanctions couldn’t work without European support and that the regime should just wait out the Trump administration. Now with U.S. sanctions biting and the Islamic Republic facing an economic crisis, they’d be wise to tell their Iranian counterparts to return to negotiations. Bipartisan support for efforts to block the Islamic Republic’s malign activities strengthens American security.”

The Daily Beast added that “some former Obama officials are trying to keep the roots of the Iran nuclear deal alive … they are also speaking to officials in Europe who are concerned about their long-term ability to trade with Iran and stick to the terms of the Iran nuclear deal, all while attempting to avoid U.S. sanctions.”

Peter Strzok Is the Serial FBI Leaker, Congressman Suspects

A Republican lawmaker suspects that former FBI official Peter Strzok is the serial leaker referred to in an investigative summary released on May 29 by the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General.

Rep. Doug Collins (R-Georgia) substantiated his suspicion in a letter (pdf) to DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, whose office released a summary showing that someone with the same title as Strzok–Deputy Assistant Director (DAD)–leaked sealed court information in violation of federal law, maintained contacts with dozens of reporters, and accepted a gift from a reporter in violation of FBI policy and federal statutes.

“While the DAD is not named in the Summary, there are several indications the DAD in question is former FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok,” Collins wrote.

He points out that Horowitz’s report on the Clinton-email investigation, dubbed the Midyear investigation by the FBI, shows that Strzok forwarded an email from his FBI account to his personal account about a proposed search warrant the Clinton-email investigators were seeking on the laptop of Anthony Weiner, the husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin. That email included information that was filed under seal with a federal court in the Southern District of New York, according to the report.

Collins also notes that “no other Deputy Assistant Director was in the chain of command of the Midyear investigation, the main subject of the 2018 report.” The congressman then asks if the DAD referred to in the report is, in fact, Strzok, whether Strzok was referred for prosecution to the DOJ and why the DOJ declined the prosecution. Collins inquired if the relevant court has been notified that the DAD illegally disclosed sealed information and what action the court took in response.

Collins also asked Horowitz for an update on the investigation on alleged leaks by former FBI Director James Comey.

In a separate letter (pdf) to Attorney General William Barr, Collins requested an update into the leak investigations of former FBI General Counsel James Baker and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. Collins also asked Barr to report how many leak investigations the bureau is currently undertaking.

According to text messages between Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page, on Oct. 24 to 28, 2016, Page was communicating with Wall Street Journal reporter Devlin Barrett.

There currently is a deadly Ebola outbreak in Congo.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

** Travelers to this area could be infected with Ebola if they come into contact with an infected person’s blood or other body fluids.

** Travelers should seek medical care immediately if they develop fever, headache, body aches, sore throat, diarrhea, weakness, vomiting, stomach pain, rash, or red eyes during or after travel.

The UN was urged earlier this week to ramp up Ebola prevention work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the highest level of emergency response.

Brian Kolfage told The Gateway Pundit that the “We Build the Wall” organization was told of these developments earlier this week during their construction project near El Paso.
