Secret History of Alnwick Castle
William of Newburgh-Hystoria rerum anglicarum-
A man depraved and dishonest from the yorkshire and takes refuge in the castle of alnwick, where he continues his dissolute life.
He gets married but his wife gives him reason to get jealous.
he pretends to leave and hides on the roof of the bedroom, where he finds confirmation of his suspicions: his wife betrays him.
In the anger of the discovery he falls from his dangerous position and injures himself.
his wife pretends nothing, puts him to bed and calls the local parish priest (the priest who will tell the story to william) to hear his confession.
The man is so angry with his wife that he postpones the confession the next day (no one knows if he blasphemes).
but the next day he dies.
He did not die in the grace of God, so he is granted a Christian burial "which he does not deserve and which serves no purpose".
Thus "for the power of satan" he begins to leave the grave at night and wander around the neighboring houses, terrorizing the population.
The body was decomposing. According to the priest his presence would have caused pestilence and others escaped from the town thus making the place a desert, which is why Alnwick is small nowadays.
The parish priest with his loyal Christians, the bravest who remained to kill the vampire / zombie monster.
while they are gathered on to do two brothers arrive telling that he had just slaughtered their father, chasing them with the same intentions but slow.
The group then decides to go to the cemetery where it finds the body swollen but florid, the two brothers hit it in various parts of the body where a huge quantity of red and hot blood comes out.
They took the body out of the city where they burned it and ended the disaster.
