David:

  1. Lied to the priests, took show bread from the temple to feed his troops for insurrection, and literally committed "treason".

  2. Coveted a woman that was betrothed to a loyal soldier for the country.

  3. Sent him to fight where he knew he'd die (committed murder).

  4. Took a widow her for his own (this means they BOTH committed adultery in the old laws).

  5. Became prideful in his "conquests" (power went to his head).

Things finally changed for David when he reconciled with God after losing the first child. He fasted/prayed, and rededicated himself to God. David was a man after God's own heart. It says it right here:

1 Samuel 13:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.

We're all flawed. That doesn't mean we're not His people. Redemption and grace have always been the way; despite what the Synagogues/Churches instruct you to do. The only thing that matters is your direct relationship with God.

Don't wait to develop that relationship. We had a great back and forth about Job last night. If anyone were to have an excuse for grievances, it would have been him. He still did the right thing; always seeking God.
