‘Abuser of the US’: Tough-talking Trump slams Mexico over mistreating America ‘for decades’

US President Donald Trump did not mince his words when talking about Mexico, branding it nothing but an “abuser” that has been mistreating his country for decades by flooding the country with illegals, smugglers and drug cartels.

The tariff is set to gradually grow to 25 percent by October and stay that way until the nation “substantially stops the illegal inflow of aliens” into the US. Mexican officials blasted the punitive tariff, vowing to find ways to retaliate.

Former FBI Director James Comey is named in the complaint by one of the plaintiffs for dismissing her complaint.

US prepared to engage with Iran without pre-conditions: Pompeo

The United States was prepared to engage with Iran without pre-conditions about its nuclear program but needed to see the country behaving like “a normal nation”, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Sunday.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani suggested on Saturday that Iran may be willing to hold talks if Washington showed it respect, but said Tehran would not be pressured into talks.

In an apparent softening of his previous stance, Pompeo said when asked about Rouhani’s remarks: “We are prepared … to engage in conversations with no pre-conditions, we are ready to sit down.”

However, he said Washington would continue to work to “reverse the malign activity” of Iran in the Middle East.

Pompeo said U.S. President Donald Trump had been saying for a long time that he was willing to talk to Iran.

A Swiss lawyer has accused ProtonMail that the company has initiated offering IP Logging upon request of Swiss authorities.

ProtonMail, the famous end-to-end encrypted email service from Switzerland, has denied the claims made by a Swiss lawyer Martin Steiger regarding the company’s involvement in voluntary assistance to Swiss authorities for real-time surveillance.

The head of the Cybercrime Competence Center, Zurich, and public prosecutor Stephen Walder stated that the company doesn’t offer voluntary real-time surveillance but is obliged to help authorities in certain situations. However, Mr. Steiger publicly posted about ProtonMail’s offer stating that the company has initiated offering IP Logging upon request of Swiss authorities.

For your information, Zurich, Switzerland-based lawyer attended a presentation earlier in May where he mentioned ProtonMail, and later Mr. Steiger tweeted from his Twitter account that he learned at the event that the encrypted email service provider “voluntarily offers assistance for real-time surveillance.”

Syrian Air Force destroys jihadist weapons depot in southern Idlib

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Air Force carried out a powerful attack on a key site belonging to the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham in the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

According to a military source in the nearby Hama Governorate, the Syrian Air Force destroyed a Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham weapons depot inside the town of Kafr Ata in southern Idlib on Sunday.

The source said the Syrian Air Force’s attack on the jihadist weapons depot caused a powerful explosion that could be heard throughout northern Hama and southern Idlib.

The Syrian Air Force has recently stepped up their airstrikes in northwestern Syria following the collapse of a 48-hour ceasefire that was promoted by the Turkish Armed Forces.

Historic Moment’ as Brexit Party Tops Westminster Polls for First Time

Nigel Farage’s newly-formed Brexit Party have sensationally topped the opinion polls in national elections for the first time, with Nigel Farage hailing it as a “historic moment”.

The poll by Opinium showed that, in the event of a general election, the Brexit Party would be the largest party in Parliament with 26 per cent of the vote.

The Labour Party came second on 22 per cent and the governing Conservative Party in third place on 17 per cent, followed by the Liberal Democrats on 16 per cent. The Green Party received 11 per cent — a significant rise for them from just four per cent in the last Opinium poll.

Meanwhile, the anti-Brexit Change UK (CUK) party achieved just one per cent.

According to an electoral seat calculator, the poll’s results would translate to 306 seats in the House of Commons — only 20 short of a majority — for the Brexit Party, with the Labour Party on 205 seats and the Tories down to just 26 seats.

Hackers managed to breach Flipboard’s security for sensitive database multiple times putting millions of users at risk.

Just yesterday, it was reported that the online graphic-design tool website Canva had suffered a massive data breach in which a hacker stole over 139 million accounts of registered users. Now, the highly popular social sharing and news aggregation app Flipboard has been hacked not once but twice in a limited timeframe, as per the security notice published by the company.

According to Flipboard, its databases were accessed between 2 June, 2018 and 23 March, 2019 and 21 April 2019 and 22 April, 2019 during which the hacker managed to obtain copies of databases containing Flipboard’s user information.

Flipboard has a huge following with more than 150 million people accessing it every month. The company claims that the hackers downloaded the databases, which contained not only usernames and salted hash (cryptologically protected or encrypted) passwords but real names, email IDs, digital tokens that registered members use to connect to their Flipboard account via a social media platform were also hacked.

US research university fires 2 Chinese scientists over ‘failure to disclose’ funding

A university in Atlanta, Georgia has fired two Chinese scientists over an alleged failure to disclose sources of overseas financing and research ties in China.

Emory University said it had fired two faculty members, who were identified in Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post newspaper as Li Xiaojiang and his wife Li Shihua, after an investigation revealed that they had “failed to fully disclose foreign sources of research funding and the extent of their work for research institutions and universities in China.”

“Emory has shared this information with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the faculty members are no longer employed at Emory,” the university said in a statement.

According to the Chinese science website Zhishi Fenzi, Emory shut down Li’s laboratory on May 16, while he was on leave and visiting China. Investigators seized computers and documents, and questioned members of his research team.

Foreign ownership and/or foreign contractors of any part of our critical infrastructure is a compromise of that infrastructure.

CNN Poll: Overwhelming Majority Wants Investigation into Obama DOJ Spying on Trump

A new poll from CNN is bad news for Obama and the Democratic Party. With the Mueller report complete and the Russian collusion narrative collapsed, Americans seem ready to move on.

“The American public increasingly feels that Democrats in Congress are going too far in investigating the President,” CNN reports. “44% say Democrats are doing too much on that score, up from 38% saying so in March. That shift stems largely from independents, 46% of whom now say congressional Democrats are going too far.” And that was before Democrats wasted a whole day moaning and groaning about Attorney General William Barr’s memo about the Mueller report, which Robert Mueller told Barr was accurate.

But the most interesting part of the is that “69% think Congress ought to investigate the origins of the Justice Department's inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 election, including 76% of Democrats, 69% of independents and 62% of Republicans.” In other words, an overwhelming majority of Americans believe that the Obama Justice Department’s actions in 2016 should be investigated. The American people want answers about the Steele dossier, the FISA court approval of the wiretap, everything. What did Obama know, and when did he know it? Why did the Obama administration not do more to prevent or stop Russian cyber attacks?

China's defence minister says Tiananmen crackdown was 'correct' ahead of 30th anniversary

Chinese defence minister Wei Fenghe said Sunday that the deadly crackdown on peaceful protesters in Tiananmen Square 30 years ago was “correct” and that it had ensured years of stability in the country.

Mr Wei was responding to questions posed by the Telegraph at an annual security summit in Singapore.

It is extremely rare for Chinese officials to acknowledge the June 4, 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, which ended when soldiers opened fire on thousands. Even three decades later, the crackdown remains one of the most sensitive topics in China, and is subject to extensive government efforts to erase it from history.

“Everybody is concerned about Tiananmen after 30 years,” Mr Wei said Sunday at the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue. “China under the Communist Party has experienced many changes in those 30 years – how can we say that China did not handle the Tiananmen incident well? There was a conclusion to the incident. The central government took measures to stop that political turbulence.”

What Was the Tiananmen Square Massacre?

The Tiananmen Square Massacre was a response to a protest in the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1989. Also known as the June Fourth Incident, it occurred when several waves of protests across the course of a few months came to a head. The PRC government debated over whether to try to defuse the situation through discussion, but eventually decided to suppress it militarily. Estimates of how many students were killed range from hundreds to thousands. This led to mass criticisms and sanctions around the world, and has remained a controversial topic into the 21st century.

Background

The initial impetus for students coming together was the death of Hu Yaobang, who had been the General Party Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), but was forced to resign in 1987 after several protests. Hu was considered by many to be a reformer, and many of the policies that he enacted while in office had the effect of making the government more transparent and removing some governmental control from the economy. These types of changes made him very popular with people, especially students, many of whom were very frustrated with the bureaucratic corruption and strict party control of the government.

When Hu died in April of 1989, thousands of people came to his funeral. This made some officials very uncomfortable, since he was officially disgraced when he died. The party held a public memorial shortly afterwards, which over 50,000 people attended. Upset about the way the funeral was held and at Hu's treatment by the party, some people began petitioning the Premier, Li Peng, to reverse the verdict that removed him from office in 1987 and reconsider Hu's official legacy. Others sent a list of demands that included ending restrictions on protests in Beijing, raising funding for education, ending newspaper censorship, and saying that Hu's reformist views had been correct, among other things.

Salesforce told anyone that uses its product that they cannot use it for sales of firearms. That’s corporate fascism. If I were any gun retailer or wholesaler that used Salesforce I would sue them for antitrust, and sue them civilly for damages. The way I’d drop the suit is if Salesforce made my data portable in an easy format so I could hop on a competitive system.

YouTube, a property of Google, is investigating a conservative journalist. Again, corporate fascism. They never seem to investigate the other side. It sure seems like YouTube attacks conservatives and limits their reach on their platform a lot more than liberals. If you wonder why people might have this perception, think back to the day after Trump was elected President. Google top management, including the founders, held a meeting about it. A lot of folks are upset about the “bro-culture” in Silicon Valley. I know more who are upset about the active discrimination and Jim Crow culture when it comes to conservatives.

Facebook says that when you use Facebook you forfeit your right to privacy and that there is no privacy. Perhaps we already assumed that but good to have it out in the open. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could take all my Facebook data and port it over to a competitor that might value my privacy a little more? Again, like Google, Facebook has been active in its discrimination against conservatives. Here is some more evidence of their active discrimination once something gets traction.
