Does this EU small print mean Brexit has already happened?

The heady drama when Britain and the EU agreed on a series of Brexit extensions earlier this year is hard to forget. But amidst the chaos, it’s worth asking: did Britain accidentally leave the EU on 1 June? A badly-drafted EU law – which also challenges the idea of EU competence – seems to suggest so. So how did this apparent blunder happen? And why has no one noticed?

Wealthy businessman Mr X who paid off sex accusers wins secrecy order

One of the British establishment’s richest and most powerful figures has been granted wide-ranging secrecy orders preventing The Times from revealing him as the man who faced accusations of serious sexual harassment and assault in an employment case.

The multimillionaire businessman, who The Times is referring to as Mr X, agreed large financial settlements with two women before their allegations were due to be heard at an employment tribunal.

UK's most senior Asian policewoman is suing Scotland Yard for 'racial and gender discrimination' after she was cleared of encouraging colleagues to nominate her for Queen's Honours

One of Britain's top Asian policewomen is suing Scotland Yard for 'racial and gender' discrimination after being cleared of misconduct allegations.

It is understood that Supt Sandhu, 55, has made a number of other serious allegations against her employers, including claims that the Met's promotion system is racially biased.

If her legal action goes ahead at the Central London Employment Tribunal, serving and former Met chiefs – including Commissioner Dick and her predecessor Lord Hogan-Howe – could be asked to give evidence.
