Bill HB 379 would have child sex offenders undergo chemical castration before they leave prison.

 

The bill was introduced by State Rep. Steve Hurst who hopes this type of punishment would make sex offenders think twice.

According to the bill, chemical castration would be a mandatory condition of parole for lawbreakers convicted of sex crimes.

 

The bill is now waiting for a signature from Governor Kay Ivey to have it signed into law.

 

According to the Florida Action Committee, the offenders will have to pay the cost of the castration.

China has issued a travel alert for its citizens coming to the United States, warning them of harassment.

 

China claims that visitors to the U.S. have been interrogated, interviewed and subjected to other forms of what it called harassment by U.S. law enforcement agencies. It advises travelers from the country to step up their safety awareness and preventative measures and respond “appropriately and actively.”

 

The Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism also issued its own travel alert for the U.S., noting the high frequency of shootings, robberies, and theft.

A murder suspect in Florida has been mistakenly released from jail in Broward County.

 

Eric Alexander Vail Jr., 28, initially had been locked up on a charge of second-degree murder, which was filed on January 29th. However, he was mistakenly released after his lower-level homicide charge was dismissed.

 

Vail’s grandmother, Judy McGowan, told WSVN-TV that she went to a graduation with Vail and his niece on Friday after they had breakfast, but she has not seen him since.
