Stone is dumb. He has no idea how nuclear weapons or reactors work. Gun type explosive is not only inefficient but uses a different type of uranium that isn't as common and therefore easier to identify. It would also weigh more in proportion. All this meaning if someone wanted to smuggle in a bomb it would've been more expensive, more noticeable, more costly and dumber to use a gun type. Just because the camera looks similar to the pic of the innards of a gun type doesn't prove anything.
He also thinks that electrical emergency pumps powered by the diesel generators would somehow still work when the gennies stopped working. He thinks that the hydrogen explosions wouldn't release radiation even though the coolant is contaminated during the normal operation.
