America’s first couple came bearing a silver and silk poppy brooch from Tiffany & Co. in a custom red leather White House jewelry box for her majesty, according to the White House.
The queen’s husband received a personalized Air Force One jacket and a signed first edition autobiography of James Doolittle titled, “I Could Never Be So Lucky Again.”
The lavish gift exchange came on Monday, the first day of President Trump’s three-day state visit to the UK.
The first lady was “very involved with the gift selection,” her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told CNN.
“Working with the State Department, Mrs. Trump takes great care in selecting meaningful gifts,” Grisham said.
The queen, meanwhile, gifted Trump a first edition of Winston Churchill’s “The Second World War” and Melania a specially commissioned silver box with a handcrafted enamel lid that resembled the ceiling of Buckingham Palace’s music room.
Doolittle was a World War II commander who led the first air raid on Tokyo four months after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He died in 1993 at the age of 96.
