Wouldn't crop insurance cover an unplantable field as well? I think the loss per bushel is pre-set early in the year so farmers with losses may not see the higher crop returns. With little or no actual inputs because there was never an opportunity to plant could mean a decent payday. Might as well plant some hemp to help the soil for a year.

Corn is priced at $4 and soybeans at $9.54 per bushel. That may be lower than it's been in a while but should still provide an income. The flooded areas are typically higher bushel per acre fields, I think. I'm not saying I don't feel bad for the farmers but I also don't think they will be at a loss regarding crops. Their biggest losses will be their homes if they are flooded.
