Ohio doctor charged with 25 counts of murder for over prescribing painkillers to patients

The Columbus, Ohio, doctor who was accused of over prescribing painkillers to his patients was charged with 25 counts of murder Wednesday.

William Husel was indicted by a Franklin County grand jury after a six-month criminal investigation that concluded he purposely overdosed dozens of patients over a four-year period at Mount Carmel Health System.

He turned himself in around 10:30 a.m., according to police.

Officials at Mount Carmel have said that Husel ordered excessive doses, ranging from 200 micrograms to 2,000 micrograms, for 35 patients, but said six of them did not die at his hand. Doses typically range between 25 and 100 micrograms.
