When I did this dig I read a few that were in agreement with you and there was a domination over the people at times that happened. Sometimes leadership is taken too far. It was mentioned but most including John MacArthur felt in the context of Revelations and the coming Judgments, this was again the stumbling block and the Balaam tie in with Idol worship and temple sex as part of the worship is more likely the push here. Would God remove the Lamp Stand ie the Church just the Pastor was incorrectly being to authoritative?? Maybe anything is possible but in the entire sweep of scripture GOD hate sexual immorality especially in Idol worship. It was the stumbling block that Israel fell in many times. I do appreciate your input and I consider this view but felt a stronger pull to the other possible. Blessings
