MANCHESTER — A city man was back in police custody just hours after his release on bail after he was seen urinating on a downtown veterans memorial to the astonishment of angry onlookers.
According to Manchester police, officers conducting a foot patrol on Elm Street came upon a man later identified as Yeudefeliz Cepeda De La Cruz, 21, who appeared to be relieving himself on the marble memorial inside Veterans Park.
“Officers also saw numerous people staring and yelling at the man,” police said. “Officers took Cepeda De La Cruz into custody and the people nearby clapped and thanked police.”
Police soon learned that Cepeda De La Cruz had only a few hours before been released from custody on bail for a charge of simple assault after an altercation with another man.
Cepeda De La Cruz is expected to be back in Manchester Circuit Court Thursday morning on the new charge.
