i took out a student loan once, just to pay my bills because i was in a financial bind and taking classes. i paid that off too, so fuck off with your bellyaching

the parents are stupid. they let their kids make stupid decisions. it's a tough life lesson but they are still responsible.

my daughter has a friend who was paying out of state tuition rates, plus she was partying like there was no tomorrow and taking loan after loan, ending up in debt for a whopping $250K, a lot of it for drugs and drinking. guess what, when the parents finally found out, like idiots, they paid it with their retirement savings…utter fools. now the daughter is a drug addict, living wherever she can get someone to let her live with them (for a price) and the cherry on the cake is she didn't even graduate and worse, her parents will never retire.

let me just add, that girl's (who wanted to be an attorney) baby sister, followed her sister to the big city. had dreams of her own. didn't go to college. took out a loan and went to beauty school. now she is a hair stylist at one o the top hair cutting salons in nyc making big big bucks, making a name for herself. she gives her older sister money regularly to keep her off the streets
