I suspect that the big social media platforms now want regulation because regulations will hinder the small companies who are creating alternatives more than themselves. If that fails, they will certainly move to regulating at the domain name level. MSM will join in because they too are losing their monopolies. It sucks while the content creators lose their hard earned business model. Of course, with the election coming up next year, maximum disruption is the goal since total censorship is impossible.
