Maybe it was never shipped at all.

Chain of evidence looks busted to me.

I'm not an IT geek, but couldn't that particular laptop be located when it logged onto an IP anywhere?

I've zeroed in on Les Wexner's yacht "Limitless"

It's not the largest now, but it was at the time of US delivery
