>Now I just wonder if I was ever that stupid and insecure.
I've heard enough of this kid's music to know that he's definitely not stupid. Granted he does have to live in Cali.., but you can hardly hold that against hm. I live right next to a major US city that shall remain anonymous to prevent doxxing myself, but I've seen enough homes where kids have old power lines that hang so low in their back yard, I had to duck underneath them to walk past. And I'm less than six foot. . .
They old electrical contracts said that the electrical company would be responsible for fixing the power lines. Conveniently, they are no longer servicing the area and the new companies are definitely not honoring the original agreement. Even in my moar suburban area, it's not at all uncommon to see sparks flying between two sections of old dilapidated wire. Or giant trees growing into the corroding power lines, but even when you make multiple attempts to contact the electrical company, they do nothing but ignore it until something terrible happens.
Furthermore, people have become more and more uneducated about these kind of things. I've spent the last decade fixing up houses. Trust me, people don't know shit anymore. I've worked with many licensed "professionals" and while there are some decent people I have met and learned a thing or two from, there are others that know how to do only one thing, and nothing else. When I first started on one crew, as a general laborer, I had to teach 5 grown men "in the business" how to properly check a breaker they popped. Seriously. 5 people checked the breaker box then treated me like I was a magician for "fixing" the problem…
This is what I have to live with. And yes, it would not take long to have a riot in some of our "modern" cities if the power goes out for long enough to cause serious food issues. Most grocery stores will have a limited access to back up generators, but I did work in a small corporate grocery store during the major East Coast/ Midwest black out some 15 years ago, and it's disgusting to see how much food get wasted from things like this, even with generators. Let alone the stuff that rots in everyone's homes. Thankfully, there seems to be somewhat of a revival in the field of electrical engineering, but when I was in school the only thing I was taught about electricity was "don't touch it"… Oh. I almost forgot about Ben Franklin. We learn about him, then Edison, then diddly squat after that… Yeah. This is a problem when one storm comes through and an entire city can go out for days, thanks to limited crews available with proper knowledge, who often have to work 18+ hour shifts during these conditions…. To see a dangerous, hundred-year-old deteriorating system still in effect, while other technologies get complete makeovers every 5 years or less is depressing. Bottom-line.
Note: Completely different artist featured here, only because the other artist you thought you were going to diss, doesn't have much of his material on u-tube. Either way, Sir Menelik and I think you need to be put in check for your remark…
