This one isn't DS related anons…although it is scary and I feel bad for his family. I fish that area by boat all the time and you should ALWAYS have a life jacket on when you are on the water.

Let me tell you what happens there…Galveston is a very shallow bay with a fairly deep ship channel bisecting it. When the huge tankers travel the ship channel the wakes from the tankers turn into high frequency/low amplitude waves as they approach the shoreline. This causes your boat to violently rock back and forth and can easily throw you from the boat if you are standing. I've experienced it a couple of times. Very scary because there is no indication it is about to happen when it does.

Forgot to add…we have had very strong winds out of the south, which create dangerous rip currents. We have had multiple drownings here in the last few weeks. So, he probably fell in and hit his head and was swept away. They still have not found his body yet.
