Have you ever viewed the lunar waves? I have on more than one occasion. Use a quality telescope, observe patiently, view the moon as a whole and don't focus on any single point. When you see a wave you will know it. They cross the lunar surface in a manner similar to a slow refresh rate on a computer monitor. Once you recognize what you are looking for zoom in, focus on one area and wait.
