Appears to have something to do with a faulty immune system. Normally the body identifies cancer cells and destroys them. But in cancer patients, for whatever reason the immune system fails to do this.
Have read that by fasting for about 3-4 days it is possible to ‘re-boot’ the immune system … not sure if it’s true. Have also read that extreme ‘fasting’ can force the body to cannibalize redundant tissue other than normal fat and muscle i.e. tumours (again not sure how valid the claims are)
