Minocycline works for this because it's effective against microbiota that mess with the surface chemistry of the blood cells and make them accumulate calcium – Histoplasma capsulatum among them although Toxoplasma gondii does this also.
Histoplasma capsulatum likes a nice matrix of calcium and mercury oxalate to live in.
