DEVELOPING: Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz ‘Pausing’ Potential 2020 Presidential Campaign

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is reportedly taking a break from the 2020 campaign trail to recover from back surgery; calling the move a slight “detour.”

Schultz released a statement on social media Wednesday after many noticed his absence in Iowa and other pivotal campaign stops.

“In the months since I announced that I am considering running for President as a centrist Independent, I have been traveling the country, talking with and listening to people in 15 states. I’ve met with thousands of people, from family famers in Kansas and veterans in Colorado to college students in Texas and small-business owners in Florida,” stated Schultz.

“Over the following two months, I underwent three separate back surgeries. Today, I am feeling much better, and my doctors foresee a full recovery… I take this detour from the road reluctantly,” he added.

“Schultz announced in January that he was ‘ running for president in 2020. But after an early media blitz and a series of appearances across the country, he mostly dropped off the radar in recent weeks, sparking questions about what exactly the status of his potential campaign was and whether he was still exploring a candidacy,” reports The Week.

“A previous report from Fox Business had suggested that Schultz delayed his campaign decision to see whether former Vice President Joe Biden would emerge as the likely nominee,” adds the website.

Your Tax Dollars Down the Drain Again: Texas School District to Bus Students to Gay Pride Parade

This shit needs to stop.

A school district in Texas has announced plans to boost student participation at a gay Pride parade by funding their transportation to the event.

The Austin Independent School District (AISD) is offsetting revenue generated from renting a facility to a local church which “opposes gay marriage” by funding an upcoming Pride parade.

“The district will put $10,000 of the rental fees generated by Celebration Church toward funding its participation in the annual Austin Pride Parade and other LGBT districtwide activities,” reports the Austin American-Statesman.

The $10,000, according to the Statesman, “will go toward transportation to boost students’ participation in the Pride parade, scheduled for Aug. 10,” and “security for students who participate in the parade, printing materials and resources, supplies for campus-based Pride activities and promotional materials.”

The money comes from over $182,000 the district generated from renting a facility, the AISD Performing Arts Center, to the Georgetown-based Celebration Church, which says it follows the Holy Bible when it comes to defining marriage between a man and woman.

KXAN reports the church’s website previously had a note claiming “…homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God.”

“Celebration Church believes that being gay or trans is an abomination,” protesters wrote in one anti-church Facebook post. “LGBT youth have been abused by ideas like these for too long, in churches and schools all across the U.S. It’s really no surprise that AISD has put making a profit above the people and our safety.”

When the school seemed it might kick the church out of the facility, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton warned that such a move would be unconstitutional.

Now, the school district is vowing to use the church money to virtue-signal the district’s acceptance policy, while at the same time working to indoctrinate students into the LGBT agenda.

One critic of AISD’s policy told KXAN the district is misusing money that would better be spent on educating children.

“What Austin ISD is doing with their money shows they need to get their priorities straight,” said Texas Values Public Policy Advisor Mary Castle. “Instead of sending kids to these over-sexualized events, they should really be focusing on the failing schools in the district.”

GOP Rep Mark Green (TN) Shreds Gun Bill Introduced by Dems Schiff & Rosenthal: ‘Like Suing the Car Manufacturers’ for Drunk Driving Deaths

Democratic lawmakers have reintroduced legislation that would allow victims of gun violence to sue firearms manufacturers in court, and Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) isn’t too thrilled about it.

On Tuesday, Democrats in both the House and the Senate reintroduced the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act, which would repeal the protections provided in a 2005 law — the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act — that gave those who manufacture and sell firearms and ammunition legal protection in gun crime lawsuits.

The measure was reintroduced to Congress by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.).

“It’s time to hold the gun industry accountable,” Schiff said in a Facebook post. “Under state and federal law, we require every other industry, like car makers and drug companies, to act with reasonable care for public safety.”

The reintroduction of the bill did not sit well with Green — a freshman congressman and former Army major — who told IJR Red in a statement that pursuing legal action against gun manufacturers for firearm-related deaths would be “like suing the car manufacturers” after a “drunk driver kills someone.”

“Suing the gun manufacturers is like suing the car manufacturers when a drunk driver kills someone,” Green said. “The tragic loss of life is not avenged or made whole in any way by wrongly attacking the manufacturers who produce guns or cars that the vast majority of the public uses with safety and responsibility.”

Green’s comments echo those of Lawrence Keane of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, who told NPR that the bill was “fundamentally unfair” and that his organization “will certainly oppose this legislation.”

“You would no more charge or blame Ford or General Motors for drunk driving accidents,” Keane said.

The measure is expected to hit a legislative roadblock in the Republican-controlled Senate, which would be unlikely to take up the measure.

The topic of gun control has garnered more national attention as some of the Democratic presidential primary candidates bring the issue more into the campaign spotlight.

As IJR Red previously reported, both Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) have proposed sweeping gun control plans in their 2020 presidential campaigns.

Booker has called for a licensing requirement for all gun owners and for a ban on “assault weapons,” while Swalwell has proposed a mandatory gun buyback program similar to New Zealand’s and said that he would arrest those who did not comply with it.

She also just said, "no one is above the law". Guess she forgets how corrupt she is. She's just a facking clueless nitwit, speaking with marbles in her mouth and making a mockery of herself to critical thinkers everywhere.
