That is BS, Europe was built on the backs of surfs, you have no idea what would or would not have happened in this country. Indentured servitude happened in much larger numbers than slavery. Slavery was wrong, but all most all the wealth created in the south on the backs of slaves was wiped out in the Civil war, and the south took over 100 years to start to recover from the mess the whole civil war and unraveling slavery created.
