MEXICO SELLING PRESIDENTIAL PLANE TO HELP FUND TRUMP’S IMMIGRATION DEAL

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador revealed that proceeds from the sale of his administration’s former aircraft will help fund efforts to reduce illegal immigration under the deal struck with the White House.

“About how much this plan is going to cost, let me say, we have the budget,” Lopez Obrador said Wednesday at a news conference. “It would come out of what we’re going to receive from the sale of the luxurious presidential plane.”

The sale of the presidential plane — a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which has been on the market not long after Lopez Obrador assumed office in December — will fund the deployment of Mexico’s newly formed National Guard to its southern border, the Mexican president said. These militarized troops will have the authority to apprehend and detain unauthorized migrants.

The latest details of the plane sale follow a significant deal struck between Mexico City and Washington, D,C., regarding the illegal immigration crisis.

In return for the U.S. not imposing a 5% tariff on all Mexican goods, Lopez Obrador’s government has pledged to send roughly 6,000 National Guard troops to its own southern border with Guatemala, a major chokepoint for Central American migrants, allow more U.S. asylum seekers to remain in Mexico and crack down on drug and human traffickers.

The sweeping compromise was the result of several days of negotiations between U.S. and Mexican delegations, and the latest move President Donald Trump has made in pressuring his southern neighbor to do more to combat illegal migration.

House to Hold Hearing on Slavery Reparations

A House Judiciary subcommittee will hold hearings on reparations next Wednesday, marking the first time in more than a decade that the House will discuss potentially compensating the descendants of slaves.

“The Case for Reparations” author Ta-Nehisi Coates and actor Danny Glover are reportedly set to testify before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, and the hearing’s stated purpose will be “to examine, through open and constructive discourse, the legacy of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, its continuing impact on the community and the path to restorative justice,” according to a Thursday Associated Press report.

The June 19 hearing also “coincides with Juneteenth, a cultural holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved blacks in America.”

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), who sits on the subcommittee, again introduced H.R. 40 earlier this year to create a reparations commission. Jackson Lee said her bill would create a commission “to study the impact of slavery and continuing discrimination against African-Americans, resulting directly and indirectly from slavery to segregation to the desegregation process and the present day.” She added in January that the “commission would also make recommendations concerning any form of apology and compensation to begin the long delayed process of atonement for slavery.”

“The impact of slavery and its vestiges continues to effect African Americans and indeed all Americans in communities throughout our nation,” Jackson Lee said.

“This legislation is intended to examine the institution of slavery in the colonies and the United States from 1619 to the present, and further recommend appropriate remedies. Since the initial introduction of this legislation, its proponents have made substantial progress in elevating the discussion of reparations and reparatory justice at the national level and joining the mainstream international debate on the issues. Though some have tried to deflect the importance of these conversations by focusing on individual monetary compensation, the real issue is whether and how this nation can come to grips with the legacy of slavery that still infects current society. DHS: Illegal Aliens Released into U.S. Without Undergoing Disease Tests

Border crossers and illegal aliens are being released into the interior of the United States without going through basic medical examins and disease tests, Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kevin McAleenan admits.

In written testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, McAleenan admitted the thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens DHS is releasing every week are not undergoing disease tests.

McAleenan wrote:

The public health risk — family units are released into our communities with unknown vaccination status and without a standard medical examination for communicable diseases of public health concern, as well as a public health risk of disease outbreak at processing facilities.

Since December 2018, DHS has released nearly 205,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the U.S. — the overwhelming majority of which will never be deported. More than 1,000 border crossers and illegal aliens every day have been released into the country by DHS over the last half year.

More Than Half a Million Illegal Aliens Expected to be Freed into U.S. This Year

Nearly 740,000 border crossers and illegal aliens are expected to be released into the interior of the United States this calendar year, new analysis projects.

Princeton Policy Advisors analyst Steve Kopits expects about 309,000 foreign minors and 226,000 adult border crossers to be released into the interior of the U.S. by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials by the end of the year. Additionally, about 202,000 adult illegal aliens are expected to enter the U.S. interior, undetected, according to Kopits’ forecast.

This projection indicates that far more than half a million foreign minors, adult border crossers, those claiming asylum, and illegal aliens are set to be released into the interior of the country — about 356,000 of which are a direct result of the February spending package approved by Republicans and Democrats and
