American Gov’t, NGOs Fuel and Fund Hong Kong Anti-Extradition Protests

It is inconceivable that the organizers of the protests are unaware of the NED ties to some of its members.

HONG KONG — Protesters in Hong Kong attempted to storm the parliament on Tuesday in opposition to an amendment to the autonomous territory’s extradition law with mainland China. The protest’s messaging and the groups associated with it, however, raise a number of questions about just how organic the movement is.

Some of the groups involved receive significant funding from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a CIA soft-power cutout that has played a critical role in innumerable U.S. regime-change operations.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi weighed in on the bill, which is being considered in Hong Kong’s parliament, arguing that, should it pass, Congress would have to “no choice but to reassess whether Hong Kong is ‘sufficiently autonomous’ under the ‘one country, two systems’ framework.”

The State Department has also weighed in, saying it could “could undermine Hong Kong’s autonomy and negatively impact the territory’s long-standing protection of human rights, fundamental freedoms and democratic values.”

The Canadian and British foreign ministries have also thrown their weight behind those opposing the bill.

By all indications, protesters are just getting started. On Wednesday, some told international media that they would try to storm parliament again. Protesters have been met with the use of tear gas and rubber bullets by police.

The protesters appear to be trying to raise awareness among Western audiences, using the “AntiExtraditionLaw” hashtag and signs in English. In one photograph, a group holds dozens of the old Hong Kong flags, when the territory was under the control of the British crown, while bearing a sign that accuses China of “colonialism.”

New VA Policy Aims to Stop Veterans from Hiding Guns in Wheelchairs

he Department of Veterans Affairs now has a policy requiring veterans in wheelchairs to switch to ones provided by the facility during emergency room visits to make sure they're not hiding guns, a top VA official testified Tuesday.

The policy was adopted following a February incident at the West Palm Beach, Florida, VA Medical Center in which a double-amputee patient pulled a weapon from his motorized wheelchair and fired at least six shots in the emergency room, wounding a doctor in the neck and injuring two staff members, said VA official Renee Oshinski.

Oshinski said the wheelchair transfer policy is directed at all VA medical centers, but she couldn't vouch for how many had put it into effect besides the West Palm Beach facility.

However, "we are asking at all sites that, when people come to the emergency department, they be put in a wheelchair that is owned by the medical center," said Oshinski, the acting deputy under secretary for Health for Operations and Management at the Veterans Health Administration.

Oshinski testified at a House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations hearing on "Examining VA's Police Force" and security issues at VA facilities.

She was questioned by Rep. Brian Mast, R-Florida, an Army veteran of Afghanistan who lost both legs to an improvised explosive device.

Mast noted that there was a suicide at the West Palm Beach VA facility in February in addition to the shooting incident, adding that VA Secretary Robert Wilkie at the time pledged "a complete review of our security protocols."

In response, Oshinski said a construction project is underway at West Palm Beach to broaden coverage by security cameras and "to make sure parking facilities are patrolled."

Other members at the hearing cited instances of alleged use of excessive force and misconduct by the VA police.

Rep. Kathleen Rice, D-New York, cited the case of a constituent, Afghanistan veteran Jean Telfort, who said he was "body slammed" by VA police while recovering from spinal surgery after getting in a dispute with staff at the Northport, New York, VA Medical Center.

Telfort also said he was brought up on federal charges over the incident, which stemmed from a dispute with a medical support assistant at the hospital.

In response, Frederick Jackson, from the VA's Office of Security and Law Enforcement, said, "One incident of the use of force is one too many."

But he defended the actions of the VA police at Northport.

Agents interviewed Telfort at length after the incident and also interviewed witnesses. "Based upon what the police said to him and what Mr. Telfort said, the witnesses thought that the officers acted properly," Jackson said.

Oshinski told Rice "how difficult it was to listen to what you described during your discussion, and I am so sorry about what happened. And I wish we could go back and do it over again."

Putin: Dollar Is a Threat to Russian Security, Does Not Deserve to Be World Reserve Currency

This is twice that Russian President Putin has said on the global stage the Federal Reserve Note no longer deserves the status and privilege of “world reserve currency” that allows unlimited printing of the currency.

The first time he made mention he actually said that it was a threat to Russia’s national security.

In a speech at the International Economic Forum, in St. Petersburg, Russia, “Russian Davos”, President Putin reaffirmed his position regarding the Federal Reserve Note and it’s international role. For the record, we see the abuse of the Federal Reserve and the Federal Reserve Note, U.S. dollar, in similar light as President Putin. The current status of “world reserve currency” should not be allowed in this day and time. The absolute abuse of power, excessive power granted and the ability to shackle entire nations through the use of a currency that is not even their own should have never been allowed but it is way past time for this system to be dissolved.

In a speech at a plenary session, Mr Putin accused Washington of seeking to “extend its jurisdiction to the whole world.”

“But this model not only contradicts the logic of normal international communication. The main thing is, it does not serve the interests of the future.”

- Source

As recently we pointed out Russia has been and is, apparently readying, a gold backed cryptocurrency to use as global trade settlement. When a man steps up to the microphone and says to the world – “The main thing is, it (U.S. dollar) does not serve the interests of the future.” while at the same time announcing that Russia, along with China, are working on a global trade settlement mechanism outside the dollar, well, you would have to be some kind serious stupid to ignore those words.

The Business Times also reported:

Changes in the global economy “call for the adaptation of international financial organisations (and) rethinking the role of the dollar which… has turned into an instrument of pressure by the country of issue on the rest of the world,” Mr Putin said.

Then went on to say:

Support Russia Insider - Go Ad-Free!

The Kremlin chief – whose country has chafed under numerous rounds of US sanctions – has repeatedly slammed the global financial system established by Washington in the aftermath of World War II.

Let’s be clear about the effect of the sanctions against Russia. These sanctions that were supposed to cripple Russia have in fact made their economy stronger, more resilient and the ground work for long term growth is now in place.President Putin welcomes sanctions as he simply turns to the people and Russia, funds the next set of projects and Russia becomes a little more self sustaining. Sanctions no longer work, and the Federal Reserve, U.S. Treasury and the western allies have now been put on notice.

Judicial Watch Sues Colorado for Documents on Electoral College Change, Files Suit on Behalf of Reporter Over State’s New National Popular Vote Interstate Compact

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a Colorado Open Records Act lawsuit on behalf of reporter Todd Shepherd against Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold for records of communications related to the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which would award Colorado’s presidential electors to the winner of the national popular vote, regardless of whether Colorado’s voters chose that candidate (Todd Shepherd v Jena Griswold in her official capacity as Colorado Secretary of State (No. 2019-cv-032310)).

The suit was filed after Griswold refused to turn over certain documents in response to a February 4, 2019, open records request for records about the Electoral College debate.

On February 21, 2019, the Colorado House passed the National Popular Vote bill and sent it to Governor Jared Polis. Colorado Secretary of State Griswold is a critic of the Electoral College and applauded Gov. Polis’s signing of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

Currently, most states award all their Electoral College votes to the candidate who wins the popular vote in that state. But, as described here by the National Conference of State Legislatures, when a state, such as Colorado, “passes legislation to join the National Popular Vote Compact, it pledges that all of that state’s electoral votes will be given to whichever presidential candidate wins the popular vote nationwide, rather than the candidate who won the vote in just that state. These bills will take effect only when states with a majority of the electoral votes have passed similar legislation and joined the compact.”

Five times a presidential candidate has won the “popular vote” but lost the election, most recently Hillary Clinton. Many opponents of President Trump have proposed undoing the Electoral College. Supporters of the Electoral College point out that it balances the interests of citizens in both large and small states by requiring candidates to seek votes in less populous states whose interests might otherwise be ignored. In addition, under the reform, a state could award its Electoral College votes to a presidential candidate who lost the state’s popular vote.

“Leftists in Colorado and other states want to undo the Electoral College and the U.S. Constitution in the hopes of guaranteeing control of the presidency,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “This attack on the Electoral College would give large left-leaning states and voter fraud an unconstitutionally outsized impact on the outcome of our presidential elections.”

Judicial Watch’s Colorado counsel is former Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler of the firm Klenda Gessler & Blue LLC.

Once Again, US Airstrikes Afghan Army Position, Killing Allied Soldiers

For the third time in as many months, US forces have carried out an airstrike on defensive positions occupied by their allies, the Afghan National Army, killing friendly soldiers.

As a joint US-Afghan convoy passed through a district in northern Kunduz Province Tuesday night into Wednesday morning known to be rife with insurgents, the troops came under “an onslaught of machine gun fire.” The force “requested precision air support” from US aircraft in response, and soon enough, the heavy weapons fire was silenced.

“Unfortunately, the machine gun fire was coming from another group of Afghan security forces,” US Army Col. David Butler, a spokesperson for US Forces-Afghanistan, told Task & Purpose.

Six Afghan National Army troops were killed in the airstrike, the third instance of deadly friendly fire in the past 92 days. No US troops were killed or injured in the incident.

On May 17, a US airstrike during a fierce firefight between Afghan soldiers and Taliban insurgents in Helmand Province accidentally hit the Afghan regulars, killing 17 and wounding another 14 of the allied troops, Sputnik reported.

Before that, on March 13, a similar event to Wednesday’s occurred in central Uruzgan Province: a US convoy passing through the valley under cover of night came under fire from an Afghan National Army fort, which mistook the Americans for a Taliban force, Sputnik reported. The resultant airstrikes leveled the fort, killing five of the 17 troops inside and wounding another 10.

“Six of our soldiers were martyred in the airstrike of foreign forces,” Afghan Defense Ministry spokesperson Col. Mohammad Zubair Arif said Wednesday morning. “Government posts came under enemy attack, the airstrike was summoned for help, but instead our troop posts were hit.”

“This is not the first time,” said Amruddin Wali, who chairs the local provincial council. “People do criticize such incidents. Some even say they are doing it intentionally.”

“We regret the tragic loss of our Afghan partners,” Butler said. However, he seemed to shift the blame onto the Afghans, noting the operation had been “extensively planned and coordinated with US and Afghan security forces to prevent an event like this from occurring.”

Kunduz Province is no stranger to wrongful civilian deaths from US airstrikes, either. A March 25 airstrike on the provincial capital of Kunduz killed 10 children from the same family, Sputnik reported at the time. The city’s hospital was annihilated by a US Air Force AC-130 gunship in October 2015, killing at least 42 people - something the US refused to admit was a war crime.

‘Deaths Of Despair’ In The U.S. Hit Record High – So How Bad Will Things Get When Society Starts To Completely Collapse?

According to a shocking new report from the Commonwealth Fund, the suicide rate in the United States is the highest that it has ever been before. Sadly, the same thing can be said about the death rates from drug overdoses and alcohol. All three death rates are at an all-time record high, and yet our society is still fairly stable at the moment. So if we are seeing this many “deaths of despair” right now, what in the world are things going to look like when our society really begins to start crumbling? Today, Americans have literally thousands of different ways to entertain themselves, and yet we have never been unhappier. One out of every six Americans is taking psychiatric drugs, we are currently dealing with “the worst drug crisis in American history”, and people are killing themselves in record numbers. Nobody likes to be told that they are a failure, but it certainly appears that our nation has been on an extremely self-destructive path for a very long time.

Even though “deaths of despair” have reached record levels, the researchers at the Commonwealth Fund found that there are major regional differences. The following comes from NBC News…

Rates of deaths from suicides, drug overdoses and alcohol have reached an all-time high in the United States, but some states have been hit far harder than others, according to a report released Wednesday by the Commonwealth Fund.

As far as drug overdose deaths are concerned, researchers discovered that the states with the highest death rates were all in northern Appalachia…

“When we look at what’s going on in mid-Atlantic states — West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania — those are the states that have the highest rates of drug overdose deaths in the country,” David Radley, a senior scientist for the Commonwealth Fund, said. Rates in those states are at least double the national average of fatal drug overdose rates.

West Virginia had the highest drug overdose death rates, fueled mostly by the opioid epidemic. What’s more, those rates rose by 450 percent from 2005 to 2017, according to the report.

In addition, the New England states also have extremely high drug overdose death rates.

Nationally, the number of Americans that die from an opioid overdose each year now exceeds the number that die in car accidents.

Netanyahu Vows More Preemptive Attacks Against Syria

Says Israel will attack in a 'systematic and consistent manner'

Following Syrian reports that they’d foiled an Israeli attack near the Golan Heights, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to launch even more preemptive attacks against Syria into the future.

Netanyahu said Israel was facing “unending” tests, and that they would continue to attack in a “systematic and consistent manner” to ensure that Syria never establishes any capability to threaten Israel.

In practice Israel has been attacking targets in Syria on a regular basis for months now, and indeed has spent much of the Syrian War feigning neutrality while backing rebel groups, and attacking pro-government forces on every pretext, and often with no pretext at all.

It is no surprise, then, to hear that preemptive Israeli attacks will continue, though it is somewhat surprising to hear Israeli officials present them as such. Generally speaking, Israel tries to spin every strike they acknowledge as retaliation, and when they aren’t retaliating against anything in particular, they generally refuse to comment.

US Lawmakers Introduce Bill Requiring Annual Review of Hong Kong’s Trading Privileges

In a show of support for protesters in Hong Kong, a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers on June 13 reintroduced legislation that would require the United States to review whether special trading privileges currently afforded to Hong Kong should continue.

The legislation, introduced by Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Jim Risch (R-ID), and Bob Menendez (D-NJ), would require the U.S. Secretary of State to issue an annual certification of whether Hong Kong is sufficiently autonomous to justify special treatment under the U.S. Hong Kong Policy Act of 1992.

Since Hong Kong’s reversion to Chinese rule in 1997, the Act has allowed the United States to deal with Hong Kong as a separate entity distinct from China in matters of economics and trade.

Those areas of special treatment for Hong Kong include visas, trade, and investments.

Under the Hong Kong Policy Act, the president may, by executive order, suspend this arrangement if the president deems that Hong Kong is “not sufficiently autonomous.”

“As over one million Hong Kongers take to the streets protesting amendments to the territory’s extradition law, the U.S. must send a strong message that we stand with those peacefully advocating for freedom and the rule of law and against Beijing’s growing interference in Hong Kong affairs,” Rubio said in a June 13 statement.

Residents of Hong Kong have turned out in record numbers to protest proposed amendments to the city’s extradition laws that would allow persons to be transferred to mainland China for trial. Opponents of the bill say that it would allow critics of the Chinese regime to be extradited to the mainland on trumped-up charges, eroding the city’s autonomy and undermining its status as a financial hub.

Global Warming Morphs Into the Solar Minimum

Since Climate Change (CC) has been a constant of life on Gaia with the evolution of photosynthesis 3.2 billion years ago and has more complexities than this one essay can address; ergo, this article will explore co2’s historic contribution to global warming (GW) as well as explore the relationship of Solar Minimum (SM) to Earth’s climate.

Even before the UN-initiated Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) formed in 1988, the common assumption was that carbon dioxide was the key greenhouse gas and that its increases were the driving force solely responsible for rising climate temperatures. At that time, anthropogenic (human caused) GW was declared to be the existential crisis of our time, that the science was settled and that we, as a civilization, were running out of time.

And yet, in the intervening years, uncertainty remained about GW’s real time impacts which may be rooted in the fact that many of IPCC’s essential climate forecasts of consequence have not materialized as predicted. Even as the staid Economist magazine recently noted “Over the past fifteen years, air temperatures at the Earth’s surface have been flat while greenhouse gas emissions have continued to soar.”

Before the IPCC formed, NOAA’s Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii registered co2 levels at under 350 ppm (parts per million) with the explicit warning that if co2 exceeded that number, Mother Earth was in Big Trouble – and there would be no turning back for humanity. Those alarm bells continue today as co2 levels have risen to 414 ppm as temperatures peaked in 1998.

From the outset, the IPCC controlled the debate by limiting its charter

“to understanding the scientific basis of risk of human-induced climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.”

While there is clearly an important climate shift occurring even as the role of co2 and human activity as responsible entities remains problematic, the elimination of co2 and its methane sidekick would be exceedingly beneficial for a healthy planet. It is time to allow scientists to be scientists without political agendas or bureaucratic interference as the Sun and Mother Earth continue in their orbit as they have for eons of millennia.

As Earth’s evolutionary climate cycles observe the Universal law of the natural world, the Zero Point Field, which produces an inexhaustible source of ‘free’ energy that Nikola Tesla spoke of, is the means by which inter stellar vehicles travel through time/space. The challenge for ingenious, motivated Earthlings is to harness and extract the ZPF proclaiming a new planetary age of technological innovation with no rapacious industry, no pollution, no shortages, no gas guzzlers and no war.

Illegal Immigration Is Ushering In the Transformation of the United States Into a 3rd World Country

LA and several other "blue cities" are becoming wastelands of human desperation. Our cities are being crushed under the weight of illegal immigration

In LA, there is a stretch of 54 straight blocks of human misery. Homeless, often ill with imported diseases line the streets. We are witnessing the transformation of America into a 3rd world country.

This is what illegal immigration is doing to our country. Out infrastructure and public welfare organizations are collapsing in places like Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and LA.
