Picture this scenario. Pursuant to a deal with Iran that another anon mentioned We will be permitted to have a fake encountet with an (((unknown))) sonar contact while escorting a group of tankers. We will engage it for a 1/2 hour or so but will “lose contact”.
An (((oil slick))) will be observed but on investigation it will be determined that the oil slick is from a previious oil spill- there are, after all, many oil tankers that go through the area. And Iran, of course will be able to say they aren’t missing any sub.
