I believe noname was allowed to suicide.
His father was an admiral.
If his treachery had come out, it would have pulled at a thread going back generations and undermined the command structure of the Navy.
Every Mil decision for 50 years would have been in question.
He gave up the goods in exchange for being allowed to suicide and let his family live on.
I would have preferred to see him hang, but not at the expense of undermining the navy command.
