The Hundred-Year Lie: How Food and Medicine Are Destroying Your Health

"A frightening wake-up call… if Fast Food Nation made you consider some serious lifestyle changes, The Hundred-Year Lie will inspire you to go ten steps farther." – Boston Herald

Combining the impact of the classic bestseller Silent Spring with Fast Food Nation, The Hundred-Year Lie: How Food and Medicine Are Destroying Your Health presents a devastating exposé of how chemicals in everyday products are ruining our health.

Over the past one hundred years, we have been guinea pigs in a vast chemistry experiment that uses our bodies, our health, and our good will to test the proposition that modern science can improve upon nature.

In The Hundred-Year Lie, investigative journalist RandallFitzgerald shatters dozens of myths being perpetuated by the chemical, pharmaceutical and processed food industries

Find out why you would never be FDA-approved—and why humans are becoming one of the most polluted species on the planet:

• The average American now carries a “body burden” of 700 or more synthetic chemicals, including Teflon, plastics, and dozens of pesticides.

• Musk fragrances used in detergents and air fresheners are not filtered out by our current water treatment facilities, ending up in our drinking water.

• The artificial sweetener aspartame, an ingredient in 1,200 food products from diet drinks to chewing gum, has been linked to eighty-eight toxic symptoms.

Fitzgerald not only sheds light on the problems we face from the unprecedented chemical onslaught, he presents suggestions for what we can to do to turn the tide.

Turning away from the dollar: Russia & EU keen on switching to national currencies for mutual trade

Moscow and Brussels are keen on quickly extending the use of the ruble and the euro to bilateral payments, the Russian Finance Minister said, after a meeting with the European Commission for Energy Union’s vice-president.

During their talks in Moscow this week, Russia’s Anton Siluanov and commissioner Maros Sefcovic, discussed switching to the national currencies for payments for energy resources.

“We have agreed now to study this issue in more detail at the level of specialists and to set up working bodies for this decision,” Siluanov said on Friday, as cited by TASS.

The minister’s spokesman, Andrey Lavrov, earlier said wider use of the ruble and the euro is beneficial for both sides as it can mitigate risks for Russian and European businesses. He added that the working group will look into the practical steps of using national currencies in bilateral trade.

Meanwhile the European Commission told TASS that the idea to create a special governing body is being considered; however, there’s no final decision on the matter yet.

Iran's Majlis: the face of the mullahs' corruption

Iran, June 14, 2019 - While the Iranian regime is surrounded by intensifying domestic and foreign crises, its decision-making bodies are finding themselves increasingly incapable of finding solutions to their problems. This unsolvable dilemma is perhaps best depicted in the current state of the Majlis (parliament), an establishment that has long been representative of the mullahs' endemic corruption and inefficiency.

A recent Majlis session best epitomized the regime's deadlock and the ongoing corruption of its officials.

"Social and economic inequalities, as well as widespread bureaucratic and political corruption, are weighing heavily on the people’s shoulders," Majlis member Ali Esmaili said during the session.

Majlis member Mohammad Javad Abtahi attacked the regime's president in his remarks.

"Mr. President, with all due respect, don't justify your inefficiency under the pretext of not having authority… Three months have passed since the beginning of the year of 'Production Prosperity.' Three months have passed since you stressed the need to change the structure of the national budget. What has the government done in this regard?"

The disputes between different regime factions and officials are happening as protests continue to spark across the country against the regime's incapacity to solve the various economic problems people are faced with.

Majlis member Kamalaldin Shahriari acknowledged that the Majlis itself has become a useless apparatus.

"Despite the expansion of the organization and the multiplication of employees and the creation of various departments and increase of budget… [The Majlis] has become an ineffective institution, a factory of laws and amendments that have no relation to the important problems of the society and country," he said.

Kouhkan, another member of the Majlis, revealed even more government-run corruption.

"The oil refinery company of Kermanshah, previously valued at 617 trillion rials, was forfeited with a 70-percent discount with the approval of [the Majlis]… two major aluminum companies… were forfeited at 360 trillion rials lower than expert valuations. We are saying that is a major part of the budget of government-run companies. We claim that the Majlis should act with power, that the Majlis should have oversight. How? We're forfeiting these companies… and then we gather to discuss the consequences on the society," he said.
