Denver Councilwoman Calls for ‘Communal Ownership’ of Land

Denver has elected a socialist city councilwoman who is calling for the “communal ownership” of land, according to the results of the city’s June 4 runoff.

During a “Denver Decides” panel in April, CdeBaca floated her desire to make “communal ownership” of land a reality.

“I don’t believe our current economic system actually works,” she said, describing capitalism as “extractive” and towing the socialist line that capitalism effectively thrives and operates via exploitation.

“I think that we’re in late-phase capitalism, and we know it doesn’t work and we have to move into something new, and I believe in community ownership of land, labor, resources, and distribution of those resources,” she said.

“And whatever that morphs into is, I think, what will serve community the best, and I’m excited to usher it in by any means necessary,” she added.

PRESIDENT'S CHILDREN PAID FOR THEIR U.K. TRIP 'IN CASE ANYONE IS WONDERING'

ara Trump, wife of the president's second eldest son Eric Trump and a Trump 2020 senior campaign adviser, stressed on Twitter Monday night that she and all of the president's adult children not serving in the administration paid their own way during the U.K. state visit last week.

"Sad that we have to clarify these things, but, in case anyone is wondering, we all paid for our trip to the U.K. ourselves," Lara Trump tweeted, along with a video clip of an interview on the matter she did with ABC News on Friday.

In the clip, ABC News anchor Lindsey Mastis tells Lara Trump, who had just returned from accompanying President Donald Trump to Europe, that the first family made headlines for a number of reasons, drawing criticism among other reactions.

"One of the questions dominating headlines right now is the Trump family's involvement and whether taxpayers are footing the bill," Mastis said, acknowledging the trip included official business and "also what appears to be some family business."

"So who's paying for what and will there be any reimbursements?" Mastis asked.

"I will confirm for you that all of the president's adult children paid our fair way," Lara Trump replied.

The president's daughter-in-law continued: "My husband and I flew with my brother-in-law Don over on a commercial flight, we paid for that ourselves, we paid for our hotel, all of our food. We were invited by the Queen and the Royal family to come over for a visit so we thought that was an incredible opportunity."

Mexico releases copy of letter touted by Trump

Mexico's government on Friday released a copy of a letter that President Trump touted in front of cameras earlier this week in teasing additional details of a deal reached with the country to stem the flow of migrants heading toward the U.S.

The letter, first published by the Mexican newspaper Reforma, states that the U.S. and Mexico "will immediately begin discussions to establish definitive terms for a binding bilateral agreement to further address burden-sharing and the assignment of responsibility for processing refugee claims of migrants."

The document, signed and dated June 7, states that under such an agreement both countries would commit to "accept the return and process refugee status claims, of third-party nationals who have crossed that party's territory to arrive at a port of entry or between ports of entry of the other party."

It adds that if the U.S. determines after 45 days from the joint declaration reached last week that the measures adopted by Mexico "have not sufficiently achieved results in addressing the flow of migrants to the southern border" then Mexico will take steps to bring the agreement into force within another 45 days.

Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico's top diplomat, presented the document to the Mexican Senate on Friday and said there was no other agreement from the negotiations with the U.S., Reforma reported.
