Voat was set to invite-only shortly after the owner of the site, PuttItOut, threatened FastJack via PM. This caused the BO/BVs to prop up an additional site in case Voat went under: Poal.co.
There's a possibility someone had a hand in taking down the site, but that's all just heresay until we have some kind of proof that a certain type of information was posted shortly before its going offline.
