Employee of city marshal's office killed himself at downtown Dallas apartment building, police say

A man died after shooting himself at a downtown Dallas apartment building Friday afternoon, police said.

Officers were called to the Lone Star Gas Lofts in the 300 block of South Harwood Street just after 4 p.m. for a reported shooting.

They found a 43-year-old man with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not release the man's name but confirmed that he worked for the Dallas Marshal's Office.

Officers blocked off Harwood between Jackson and Wood streets while they investigated.
