Businessman Faces Sentencing in Human Trafficking Case

A 65-year-old Connecticut businessman is facing sentencing in connection with a human trafficking ring that authorities say preyed on boys and men who were mentally ill and intellectually disabled.

Bruce Bemer, of Glastonbury, is scheduled to be sentenced Monday in Danbury Superior Court. Before sentencing, however, a judge is expected to rule on a defense motion for acquittal.

A jury found Bemer guilty in April of several counts of patronizing underage victims of human trafficking and prostitution.

Bemer, the owner of the New London-Waterford Speedbowl racetrack, has admitted he patronized prostitutes, but denies any role in human trafficking.

An off-duty officer killed a man who attacked him in a Costco while he was holding a child, police say

An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer shot and killed a man who attacked him inside a Costco in Southern California while he was holding his child, authorities said.

The unidentified officer was shopping with his family in the Corona store Friday evening and holding his young child. A man he did not know “assaulted” him, said Officer Tobias Kouroubacalis of the Corona Police Department.

The officer fired his weapon, killing 32-year-old Kenneth French and injuring two of French’s family members, Kouroubacalis said in a statement. The injured relatives were taken to local hospitals, where they are in critical condition, Corona police said.

Kouroubacalis described the attack as unprovoked.

The officer suffered minor injuries and has been released from the hospital. His child was not injured, Kouroubacalis said.

Police Say 4 Family Members Found Dead with Gunshot Wounds

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Police are investigating the fatal shootings of four family members found dead inside their Iowa home over the weekend.

The deaths were discovered by another family member around midmorning Saturday. Investigators are still working to determine exactly what happened, but West Des Moines police Sgt. Dan Wade said there is no threat to the community after this tragedy.

The victims were identified at 44-year-old Lavanya Sunkara, 41-year-old Chandrasekhar, a 15–year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy. The Des Moines Register reports the family had owned the home where the shooting happened since March.

Police said four other family members - two adults and two children - were staying in the home as guests, and they discovered the victims.

It happened around 3 a.m. on June 2 in Coney Island.

According to police, a 23-year-old woman had fallen asleep on a southbound Q train. She woke up when an unknown man allegedly touched her inappropriately under her clothes.

The woman started screaming, and the man got off the train and ran away when the train stopped at the Stillwell Avenue subway station.

Police say the victim was not injured.

Tenn. Mother Finds Man Living In Attic Above 14-Year-Old Daughter’s Closet

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV/CNN) – Investigators in Tennessee arrested an 18-year-old man who they say was living in the attic above a teenage girl’s closet and would come down at night to visit her.

The mother of a 14-year-old girl came home to find 18-year-old Matthew Casto standing at the top of her stairs, according to Mt. Juliet Police. The man reportedly bolted to the teenager’s bedroom and barricaded himself in an attic space in her closet, despite the mother shouting at him to leave.

Casto had allegedly been living in the attic space and came down at night to visit the teenager. Police say the girl’s mother did not know the man was in the attic.

Plans to ‘hack Earth’s weather’ could start World War 3, scientists warn

Climate change may end up causing World War 3 if individual countries start to try and save themselves by hacking the weather with a process called geoengineering.

Many experts are in favor of geoengineering, which involves manipulating the atmosphere by blocking sunlight or isolating excess carbon, but weather hacking in one region could have negative impacts in another and lead to global conflict, according to scientists.

It is solar geoengineering that appears to be the most problematic and not so much carbon capture because solar geoengineering would involve spraying chemicals into the air that would block some sunlight.

When speaking on the sun blocking topic, geoengineering researcher Juan Moreno-Cruz told Business Insider: "The threat of war never is out of the question."

If geoengineering is going to happen then all countries would have to be informed and agree because some areas may be more negatively affected than others.

Andrea Flossmann, a scientist at the World Meteorological Organization, explained in a WMO report: "The atmosphere has no walls. What you add may not have the desired effect in your vicinity, but by being transported along might have undesired effects elsewhere.”

Majority of Americans predict World War III in next 40 years: poll

A majority of Americans believe World War III is likely to happen in the next 40 years, a new poll shows.

Fifty-nine percent of Americans think a third World War will take place within four decades, compared to 64 percent in 2018, according to a YouGov poll released Monday.

The poll, which was released close to the 75th anniversary of D-Day — the landings in Normandy, France, that spurred the end of World War II — also found that 40 percent of Americans believe the U.S. and its allies could effectively collaborate to make D-Day possible today.

Thirty-six percent said this collaboration wouldn’t be feasible, the poll shows.

Despite beliefs that World War III might occur in the next few decades, the poll showed disagreement on when U.S. military intervention is justified.

A vast majority — 66 percent — said intervention in World War II was completely or somewhat justified, but other conflicts, including the Vietnam War and the current military engagement in Afghanistan, garnered less support, according to YouGov.

The War in Afghanistan — the nation’s longest ongoing military action — was deemed reasonable by 35 percent of Americans and unjustified by 42 percent. The split is largely partisan, with 56 percent of Republicans saying it’s justified and 55 percent of Democrats saying it’s not.

How Germany Plans to Win World War III

Hint: It has to do with oil, and it nearly worked in World War ii.

Seventy-five years after Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, Germany is once again a major military power. It is the world’s fourth-largest weapons exporter. Last year, German arms manufacturers sold $8 billion worth of weapons. Most of these weapons went to the German military, but around 15 percent were exported to Germany’s strategic partners around the world. Leopard 2 battle tanks and high-tech German armaments were an especially hot commodity among Arab monarchs, North African autocrats and Latin American presidents.

Like most nations that sell weapons, Germany is after more than profit. It is building military alliances. In particular, Germany is arming Sunni Arab nations in a long-term strategy to undermine the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran controls 15 percent of the world’s oil. The German-led European Union is the world’s second-biggest energy importer. Around 30 percent of EU oil imports and 39 percent of EU gas imports come from Russia. Germany is dependent on this oil and gas. United States President Donald Trump is calling on Germans to buy U.S. liquefied natural gas instead, so they will not be “totally controlled by Russia.” But this would make Germany more dependent on America.

If the Germans want the EU to become a self-sustaining, self-sufficient military power, they need Middle East oil.

The geopolitical realities Germany faces today are similar to the ones it faced during World War ii. In many ways, the European theater was a fight over the petroleum Adolf Hitler needed to fuel the German Reich.

The Nazis made several strategic mistakes that contributed to their ultimate defeat. But Bible prophecy shows that the Germans have learned from these mistakes and have devised a secret strategy to win World War iii.

“We don’t understand German thoroughness,” the late Herbert W. Armstrong told World Tomorrow radio listeners the day after Nazi Germany surrendered. “From the very start of World War ii, they have considered the possibility of losing this second round, as they did the first—and they have carefully, methodically planned, in such eventuality, the third round—World War iii! Hitler has lost. This round of war, in Europe, is over. And the Nazis have now gone underground. … Now a Nazi underground is methodically planned. They plan to come back and to win on the third try.”

Why the Nazis Lost World War II

World War ii began on Sept. 1, 1939, when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. Two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany. After the Nazis conquered Poland and France, Adolf Hitler sent a Nazi force to North Africa under the command of Field Marshall Erwin Rommel. Four months later, he launched a surprise attack on the Soviet Union. These invasions of North Africa and the Soviet Union changed Germany’s war from a one-front conflict against a weakened Britain into a three-front fight against Britain, the Soviet Union and France’s North African colonies.

Why did Hitler invade North Africa and the Soviet Union before he conquered Britain? He needed oil.

Rommel was trying to capture the Suez Canal, which would have opened a route to the oil field of the Middle East. Meanwhile, Field Marshall Wilhelm List was trying to conquer the Soviet oil field in the Caucasus Mountains. British troops halted Rommel’s advance at the Second Battle of El Alamein. Russian troops halted List’s advance at the Battle of Stalingrad. These two battles were the beginning of the end for Hitler’s Third Reich.

“By 1944, German access to oil had been seriously impaired—and the results were devastating,” wrote Gregory Brew in “How Oil Defeated the Nazis” (OilPrice.com). “The Luftwaffe, Germany’s mighty air force, was grounded. Panzer divisions couldn’t maneuver for fear of using up precious oil. German Army units lacked mobility and couldn’t respond quickly when the Allied armies arrived on the shores of Normandy. Lack of fuel crippled the German Army. … On May 8, 1945, Hitler committed suicide, after his armies crumbled from a lack of men, equipment—and fuel.”

Many military minds believe that Hitler could have won World War ii if he had directed Germany’s forces south instead of east. With a nonaggression pact with the Soviet Union already in place, and most of Western Europe under his control, Hitler could have chosen to invade the Middle East before attacking Russia. Tankers on Fire in the Gulf of Oman

Just after sunrise on June 13, a Japanese-flagged vessel enroute from Saudi Arabia to Singapore, was struck by an explosive device, most likely a magnetic mine that attached to side of the ship. The resultant fire in the engine room caused the crew to abandon ship. Shortly thereafter, a Norwegian-owned tanker bound for Taiwan from the United Arab Emirates reported that it too had suffered an explosion.

While no terror entity has claimed responsibility for the attack, the United States blames Iran. And the evidence is quite compelling.

The Bible shows that if the frequency and magnitude of these attacks increases, they will have severe economic, political and military ramifications globally.

‘Either Victory or Egypt’

Anti-government protests in Sudan didn’t end when the military toppled the 30-year dictatorship of President Omar al-Bashir. During the latest protests, multiple reports have implicated Sudan’s security forces in horrific atrocities against civilian protesters: using rape as a weapon, burning protesters in their sit-in tents, tying weights around people and drowning them in the Nile, shooting protesters to either maim or kill.

The future of the protest in Sudan will likely be predicated on this chant: “Either victory or Egypt.”

Islamic State Building a Stronghold in Afghanistan

The Islamic State is growing more powerful in northeastern Afghanistan, according to locally based American intelligence officials, the Associated Press reported on June 10.

“The bad news is their acquisition of key terrain, height concealment, where they can have easy access to money, weapons, equipment … and from where they can plan, train, stage, facilitate and expedite attacks,” an American intelligence official stationed in the area told AP.

The good news, says the Bible, is that God remains in control of what happens in this world. For the sake of His plan, He prevents certain events from happening, and He allows others to happen. These developments are a harbinger of the time when God will ultimately put a permanent stop to Islamic terrorism—and every other form of oppression.

Facing Trade War With U.S., China Teams Up With Russia

Russia and China’s relationship entered a new era following a June 5-7 summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The pair upgraded their relationship to a “comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination” during Xi’s three-day visit to Moscow that coincided with the 70th anniversary of relations between the two countries.

The events of the visit stood starkly against the backdrop of the U.S.-China trade war.

With Russia’s help, China can endure its trade war with the U.S. much longer than it could otherwise.

Russia and China’s treasured friendship is just the beginning of the fulfillment of a specific end-time prophecy. Their close relationship was prophesied, and it will only lead to much greater cooperation.
