Has anyone read the DOJ's letter and review of Treasury's refusal of Congress' request for Trump's tax return? This thing is basically a shellacking of the committee requesting it. Lots of keks.

So basically, Congress asked for the returns so they can have oversight of the IRS procedures and tax policies, including but not limited to the Presidential returns, and how presidential audits are done. Their arguments are completely destroyed. It's basically a BTFO of their little committee.

Here's a couple of highlights:

>Points to the law Congress used to request Trump's returns were to be used more broadly.

>Basically asks, "If you wanted to find out about Presidential audits, why do you need 6 years of tax returns prior to Trump becoming President?"

>Asserts that they are invoking this oversight power simply as a pretext to release Trump's returns publicly

>William Barr makes a cameo in the form of a quote of his from 1986

>The document basically is an overall prime example of "Don't interrupt your enemies when they are making a mistake"

>This fucking hilarious quote from Chairman Neal:

>After Representative Neal became Chairman, he confirmed that the Committee would pursue the public release of President Trump’s tax returns, because “the public has reasonably come to expect that presiden-tial candidates and aspirants release those documents,” but he cautioned that “[w]e need to approach this gingerly and make sure the rhetoric that is used does not become a footnote to the court case.”

I made a highlights doc (pic related). There was so much good stuff in there, I couldn't put it all in for time and space. Not 100% sure this pic will upload because it's so big but here we go.
